A kick-arse map from the BUILD screen of Aymeric Nocus, Overtime is a fun, furiously fast-paced level involving a supermarket and a carpark of death - and with all those uglies hanging about you'll have to be quick on your toes. Gameplay is top-notch, you've got to locate all the switches in the supermarket before you can get the last key. Design is well conceived, attention to detail amazing - a hell of a map. Check it out!

===================================================================================== ============ THIS LEVEL IS NEITHER MADE BY OR SUPPORTED BY 3D REALMS. ===================================================================================== ============ Title : Overtime Date Finished : Avril 3rd, 2004 Filename : OVERTIME.MAP Size of the map file : 436 Ko :P Not that big Author : Aymeric Nocus Email Address : aymeric-nocus[at]tele2.fr Web page : None Misc. Author Info : 16 year-old from France who LOVES skateboarding, playing bass in a punk-rock band and of course building Duke 3D maps to kick ass again and again and again... :P Oh and my English sucks so don't mind the mistakes Other levels : Anarchy City (rated 93 % on the Repository), Blois, Mega-CGR (rated 90 % on the Repository), Clerey20, Dark Side of the Moon (rated 87 % on the Repository), Downtown Ride (rated 92 % on the Repository), Notre-Dame des Aydes (rated 91 % on the Repository), Tours. Oh and a bunch of unreleased crap that didn't work :P If you just can't find one of my maps on the Internet, just mail me and I'll send it to you. Description : N - I - G - H - T - M - A - R - E !!!! Building this f**king sh*t was a total nightmare :P ! ! I started to work on this one 1 year ago, just after I completed Anarchy City. I was putting so much effort in this one, I really wanted to make it a kickass level you know... And right after the supermarket section was completed, Build nuked it all, making white lines outta red lines and creating one-way walls accross the first hall. Great :P I stopped working on it and just quit building maps, I was so fucking angry at the Build Editor I let it down till last month, when I got access to the Internet. Three of my maps (Dark Side of the Moon, Mega-CGR, Notre-Dame des Aydes) were posted on the Duke Nukem 3D Repository Site with positive comments, and it gave me the motivation to create new maps. I completed a brand new map called Downtown Ride in 1 1/2 week who was posted on the DN-R with a nice 92 % I didn't expect... And then I downloaded that Roch map with a txt file explaining how to restore maps that were "nuked" by the Build Editor. So I restored my old supermarket-theme map and started to work on it again. My life is very interesting huh ? :P OK I'll stop here, here's what's the level like : there's a supermarket with an EDF lab in the basement and an office building accross the street. So you're like "oh that's just another f**king city level", well I don't think so, I really tried to make this very good-looking and I think it's kinda different from what you may have tried before, anyway just play it :P. This level is based on a real-world place in Blois, France. The office building is where I worked for 2 weeks last month (I spent more time drawing plans for the level that working, however :P) and the "Champion" supermarket really exists, too... No, the EDF Tech Labs located in the supermarket basement are NOT a virtual representation of a real-world place :P. (Well perhaps it is, who knows ? I just couldn't find the yellow keycard in the real life :P). There's a nice progressive storyline (crappy as hell !!! I tried to make the most incoherent storyline ever in a DN3D map). You'll have to read the different e-mails sent by Gal Heyes on the computers scattered around the level. You'll know that a computer has received an e-mail when you hear a "bip bip bip"-like sound when you walk close to it. The story begins like this : you've had another hard day at the office and when you're just leaving you hear that "bip bip bip"-like sound which means you have received an e-mail. You hesitate - do you read it or do you drive home now ? Hopefully you read it and it's from Gal Heyes telling you some bad news... Looks like Duke has to work overtime. (The Overtime name could also be about the time I spent working on the fucking level :P) Oh, of course, everything is shaded, there's a lot of details and FX, a few earthquakes here and there, lightning effects and such... Everything you can expect from a GOOD level... in this shitty one. Just kidding :P It also has some new effects (like a table you can blow up), nice spritework and cool puzzles. Waooow ! This description txt is fucking long ! I'll stop it here now :P Additional Credits to : The Repository Bloke for playtesting (kinda) and great suggestions ; and all those guys who wrote early FAQs back in 1996 who have taught me everything - thanks to Brett Gmoser, Jonah Bishop, Steffen Itterheim and Klaus Breuer. Oh and Pascal Rouaud for his txt file explaining how to restore nuked maps... (now I understand the name of the game :P) ===================================================================================== ============ * Play Information * Episode and Level # : Fuck that ! User map Single Player : Yes !!!!! Cooperative 2-8 Player : NO this sucks :P DukeMatch 2-8 Player : No - there are no starting points, I just got lazy Difficulty Settings : Not implemented - who cares about that ?! Construction Time : Hehehe... 2 months plus 1 week one year later. New Sounds : None New Music : Yes, a very cool MID file from another map !... :P New Graphics : Yes, an ART file that I stoborrowed from the Duke It Out In DC Episode... I just couldn't get Editart to work New/changed CONs : None Demos Replaced : None ===================================================================================== ============ * Construction * (We're gonna lauch very hard I think) Base : New level from scratch Build Time : One year hehehe... See above for details or see below if you don't care Editor(s) used : Build Known Bugs / Problems : That's where you're allowed to laugh very hard and loud you know like BWAHAHAHAHA... :P I had to face a lot of bugs through the construction of this piece of shit, like Build bugs and weird, undocumented bugs, like, everytime I tried to add more details and sprites in the supermarket you could see through the check-outs, etc. Now this level is totally bug-free except for these two bugs : - you can't play this map using the 1.3d version, even if there are only 1.3d textures you just won't be able to pick any item up. Don't ask me why, I dunno... Well, you can try it however, maybe it's because of my slow, old computer (Pentium 1, 200 Mhz :P) and the always-too-high amount of details which slows down the framerate. - Just right after you got the red keycard, you have to get out of the pit you're in using the jetpack - if you try to jump you'll land in the teleporting sector. if it happens to you, just jump and you'll be back at the bottom of the pit. Use the jetpack now :P - That's all. Can't you count ? I said there was only two bugs ! Now read the following part of this txt file :P And yes you CAN go in that vent near the beginning, you just have to find a way to get rid of that table... If you find more bugs well feel free to NOT mail me ! I'm off that level ! ! ! I won't touch anything of it now that it's completed :P Sorry... May Not Run With... : 1.3d like I just told you :P, but you can try it however, maybe it would work on your computer * Copyright / Permissions * Oh no I don't like to complete that part of the txt file. Well do have I the choice ? Authors may NOT use this level as a base to build additional levels. But they can scope it under Build to see how the new effects work. You MAY distribute this MAP, provided you include this file, with no modifications. You may distribute this file in any electronic format (BBS, Diskette, CD, etc) as long as you include this file intact. I'm not responsible of the damage the files included in the ZIP file may cause to your computer. Don't worry I really don't know how it could :P * Where to get this MAP file * On your HD :P DN-R I think : http://www.bur.st/~duke3d/index.htm ===================================================================================== ============ *Important Information* Installation : Do as usual, copy ALL the files in your DN3D directory, load Setup and select the map, Don't forget to backup your original .CON files. Important Notes : - When you're in the sewage control building at the end, have a look at the security viewscreen just after you hit the detonator switch and you'll see the supermarket building blow up. - VERY IMPORTANT ! I wasn't able to test the last section of this level cuz on the last day of construction I couldn't play it anymore because of huge slowdowns which are due, I think, to the limitations of the Build Engine that I almost reached (965/1024 sectors, 7500+/8126 walls and 3600+/4500 sprites). Don't worry and don't forget that I use a very slow computer (Pentium 1, 200Mhz). I guess I won't be able to try this level with monsters in till I get a brand new computer... So don't blame me if ammo / health to monsters ratio is quite bad, it's not really my fault ! (Just blame that darn framerate :P). Edit this level if it really sucks... - VERY VERY IMPORTANT !!!!!! ...Have fun :P ===================================================================================== ============ * Not So Important Information * (feel free to skip this section and go play the level if you want :P) Five SP maps you HAVE TO download : 1) RED4.MAP (Red 4 : Boat Trippin') By Merlijn v. Oostrum 2) RED3.MAP (Red 3) By Merlijn v. Oostrum 3) OGBB.MAP (Operation Get Bike Back) By W.Gee and the Oostrum bros. 4) JAC.MAP (Just Another Christmas) By Taivo Maripuu 5) ROCH8.MAP (Roch 8 :P) By Pascal Rouaud (who the hell is he ? :P) Next maps by me : Mmmh there will be some for sure. Maybe an episode including Anarchy City, Downtown Ride, Overtime, a new version of Blois (wasn't a good map) and some unreleased levels. I also really want to start using the Atomic Edition textures and monsters to create better levels, and I have a great idea about a brand new map, you'll know more about it when time will come... This level took a very long time to make and now I'm glad it's over. I really hope you'll enjoy it :) It's my best yet (with Anarchy City) - well till my next one :P. Bye and thanks for downloading and playing this. HAVE FUN !!!! --- --- (Waooow ! The longest txt file ever made for a DN3D level ! Should get me more points in a review :P) Get lost !!! I won't tell you anything more !!!! :P
