Yet another marvellous space level from our man Fernando, Terran Moonshaft, although a seeming contradiction of terms, is the brilliant successor to Viewport and is more fun than a stiff jab in the eye. It all takes place on a moonbase facility, with all the bells and whistles one could reasonably expect from such an installation. The level begins fairly quietly, not much in the way of an alien invasion - at least not in the manner we're generally used to. You'll meet a couple of lizards and some assault chaps to begin with, but once you get down to exploring and nutting the level out you'll find it's a bit more dangerous than first thought.
This ought not to bother Duke however, as more (although not too much) arsenal becomes available. Of note are the pipebomb stashes you'll find about the place - yes they're handy for blowing up and maiming the bad guys, but they're doubly handy for making holes in walls - which is of course what you'll need them for. Use them wisely. The map is loaded with secrets, many of which prove quite advantageous in finding since they contain extra guns and ammo - which you'll need. So if you're more for the kind of run-in-shoot-em-up Duke level, you may not get full enjoyment from this map.
As always in Fernando's maps, design and level layout is quite distinctive, with criss-crossing areas (sectors over sectors), interconnectedness and ever-present lighting effects and realistic shadowing. There's more than a few nasty traps so save regularly, or just brave it - to each their own. Check out this good 'un today!

Of course, the small nukeroom after the subway was not just that... it was a camouflaged teleporter which linked Duke to the remnants of a terran shaft moonbase interconnected with what inteligence reports slash: a "Fusion Tower"? Without any shrugging at all, Duke heads up to find the mysterious tower, if he can first get out of the canister check-in department.
