A nicely put together level with a lot of inspiration from Half-Life, The Restless Resort mixes military base themes with tropical climates to produce a reasonably fun to play level. Level layout is detailed - the trees look comically unnatural but that doesn't matter, there's plenty of 'heavy jungle' atmosphere. Puzzles aren't too difficult and, bar the last section, each part flows well into the next.

Description : This map is what I have sent to DukeInc
for their resort-themed mapping contest.
It doesn't really need an introduction, but
here's some of the story:
Scientists have found a way to transport matter
from one place to another at the speed of light.
EDF (Earth Defence Forces, a defence
organisation which deals with alien threats)
uses these portals to quickly access remote
areas, after a portal has been installed there.
On Aida, a small island in Indonesia, some
strange discoveries have been made. Hidden in
the rocks, huge amounts of platina and
titanium ore have been found.
EDF decides to install a portal on Aida to make
the transportation of scientists, their staff
and goods a lot easier. Not much later the
installation is a fact and EDF is ready to
begin the research.
Dr. Gutz, a well-known geologist, arrives at the
island a few days later, quickly followed by
team A, the first staff group.
But on the fourth day, all contact is lost with
the group and dr. Gutz. On the sixth day after
dr. Gutz' arrival at the other side EDF decides
to send in a team to investigate the radio-
silence. Among them is Duke Nukem, one of EDF's
best men.
Just when the special task force is about to
recieve orders and depart, the portalroom sends
in a concerning message. They measure huge
amounts of electricity, as if someone, or
something, is using the portal from the other
side.
After that, everything happens so fast.
Whatever has come out of the portal, it sure is
violent. Duke is left for dead after the
disaster. When he wakes up out of his
unconciousness, the only thing there is to do
is to see what the hell happened and to find
dr. Gutz and Team A at the other side to get
some answers.
Good Luck!
