Review by Steven Laliberté on 8th August 2008
Five month later with the sixth part of the ROCH city, Pascal Rouaud performed a quite thunderous arrival on the scene of the Duke-mapping, releasing Roch 5. This amazing map represents actually in 2001 an important turning point in Pascal work, and even somehow for the community of the mappers. In this map, Pascal provide actually a complete realistic achievement through the various architecture designs, the detailed interiors, and all the new innovating effects spread into the different places.
The gameplay of Roch 5 is all along intense, because you're going to suffer the whole alien zoo wandering free and anger from the beginning within the city. Quitting the garden of Roch 4's Castle by the rear door, they will be awaiting for your head into explosive traps and respawns but as usual, you'll be always properly supported by all your favorite heavy weapons and goodies as well on the occupied roofs you'll clean up, as on the ground. You'll note also that Roch 5 get the point across the fun role of the architecture, featuring extra puzzles in the way to rack your brain and increase your ammo potential! As well, don't forget that the 6 different secret places to be discovered scattered in this quarter will facilitate your quest, until this incredible fight against three minor Battlelords at once sniping your head from a roof, and the guarded ending to Roch 6.
Traveling through the splendid library with a conceptual art exposure, this strange factory, or within those several offices, you'll note all the famous particularities of a map from the ROCH Series: the new interesting animated billboard, an helicopter delivering bad guys, and the famous blue sky. This marvelous city dominated by a spectacular huge tower is supported by the beginning of Pascal's famous researches for sprite techniques and uses: here he first creates and uses a lot of realistic 3D-chairs and cozy armchairs that will be often used within subsequent User Maps, replacing thus the rather awful usual sprite. You'll encounter furthermore a lot of other interesting stuffs, considering the first lift with self-opening doors of the Duke-mapping, this quite funny truck vibrating and sending into atmosphere the died or asleep aliens (look at the picture!), or even the hazardous machine. Last but not least, don't miss all the funny messages and games to resolve Pascal spread into every forbidden place!
Thereby this map is plainly one of those that call for you to get a space on your Hard-Disk to download it, and keep it for years!

Description : My sixth map. The fifth in the series (Roch_sc1 should be a
secret level) if I ever make the whole episode I wanted to
one day!
Some cool new effects. I especially like the second lift in
the map (guarded by a commander in the all white building):
its doors are synchronized to its moves.
Some other minor effects/tips & tricks.
6 secret places.
If you love this map like I do and would like to know all
secrets, mail me to get a demo file that shows everything
(or to get my previous / future levels).
