Map Name: Sunset Boulevard Blues
Author: Big Bird (Mister Ed)
Released: 15th January 1998
Rating: 90

Review by Kim Robinson on 2nd August 2007

For the author's 'first level' it's a great effort, Sunset Boulevard Blues is a well built, medium sized city level with some great scenery, locations and overall terrific gameplay. Puzzles are pretty typical, just find a couple of key cards, find the doors they unlock and Bob's your uncle. There's plenty of explosive effects, cracks in walls and hidden areas to keep the level interesting though, some of the more powerful weapons are carefully hidden so be on the look-out. Design is top-notch, no oversizing issues here - just plain, quality fun. Take a gander!

================================Author Info===================================
Title : Sunset Boulevard Blues
Version : 1.46
Author : BiG BiRD (aka MiSTER ED)
Email Address : wc-wong[at]xtra.co.nz
Description : This is my first map and I think it's not bad for a
first try. I've been working on and off on it for
over eight months now. After playing some maps with
Duke-sized garbage bins, bad texture alignment and
lots of dancing girls, I figured I'd try and do a
			   LOT better than that!

Was voted the BEST LOCAL Duke3D User map of 1997
                           by NZ Duke3D gamers.

This is SSBB's last incarnation. It's been around
for two and a bit years and it's time for it to be
                           put to rest.

NOTE: I'm only posting v1.46 as a favour to my g/f
"Angel", who finally convinced me to get off my ass
and finish SSBB off once and for all... only a few
days after I posted SSBB v1.45 to Dukeworld.com!
Watch out Dukeworld, here comes the LAST SSBB update!

                          * Changed the palette in the underwater part of the
"nasty surprise" room from red to normal colour
                          * A few reversed sprites were fixed (such as the
red magazine on the floor in the bookstore)
                          * Changed the version sign (Yahoo!)
                          * Better Atomic/PPack support, uses a nifty util
which determines your version of Duke and loads
the appropriate .CON files as necessary!
                          * I hope that's it. I'm not changing SSBB anymore.
                            So there. Haha. Ha. Hahaha.

Sunset Boulevard Blues is dedicated to Jessica
                          my "Angel"

New features/bug fixes from version 1.44 to 1.45:

                          * Higher ceiling in bookshop (previously people
would get squashed coming out of secret area)
                          * Added two new DM switches so "wimps" can
			    barricade themselves up
                          * "Pig cop in the water" bug got removed
                          * Removed secret-level switch, it was causing some
problems with avid level-explorers hitting the
switch and crashing the game. A byproduct of
                            SSBB's beta days...
                          * "Lite" Version for 486 machines released
			  * Killed a major USER.CON bug - thanks to Fireball
			    for pointing that one out!

New features/bug fixes from version 1.43 to 1.44:

** Copyright / Permissions **

If you're stuck on the level, read or print out the SSBB.HNT file. This
contains information that will help you complete the level. Use a normal text
editor (such as DOS Edit) which will enable you to view the file.

Authors MAY NOT use SSBB146.MAP as a base to build additional levels.

You MAY distribute SSBB146.MAP, provided you include this file, with
no modifications. You may distribute SSBB146.MAP in any electronic
format (BBS, Diskette, CD, etc.) as long as you include the above mentioned
files intact.

You may do anything with the MIDI and sound files. And if you want to edit
my modified .CON files, go ahead. Just don't come crying if the game spits
out a "Found errors in USER.CON file" message, okay? (The warning that used
to follow this paragraph has been removed because of the utility described
in the next paragraph. :)

I don't know who made CHECKVER for Duke. Rumours are abound that it can be
found bundled with the Penthouse Paradise level for Duke3D. If you're the
author, thanks for letting me use it with SSBB, it's come in VERY handy. If
you're the author and want recognition, leave me a message via the contact
list below. BTW I found CHECKVER on a local BBS.

If you put this on a compilation CD (like Nuke-IT, for example) that you plan
to charge for, I would be most obliged to receive a free copy. But please,
don't alter the level in any way except for changing of the MAP number.

** Where to get this MAP **

Well ya got it now, so what's the problem? But here's a plug for my "official"
