The sequel to Polaris Outpost (though possibly not the one already featured here), this one is by a different author in an equally cosmic, high-tech environment. There's not much of a story behind it - more of a 'get in there and get your feet dirty' kind of level, but if that's what you're after then you're sure to be pleased with this. Level design is simplistic, though everything fits together well - like its 'predecessor' there's a two-way train and plenty of things to blow up, but stripped down it's nothing more than a key-run. Take a gander anyway.

====================================================================== Title : Polaris Outpost 2 Filename : polout2.map Author : Eric Carl (asbestos) E-mail : carl[at]cl-sys.com Web Page : don't have one Misc. Author Info : I really enjoy making Duke Maps and listening to all that wonderful techno/indusrial stuff (KMFDM, NIN, Front Line Assembly, TKK, ATR, ect...) Other Levels : Gothmare Dance Pirate (some sucky ones not worth mentoining[I wish I could spell]) Description : Well, after Duke took out all the aliens all the places he carelessly nuked had to rebuilt. This is the re-built polaris outpost called Polaris Outpost 2. Original, huh. Any you run around, kill things, say "Heh, heh, heh! What a mess!" and win. Additional Credits To : 3D Realms for the wonderful game, all of my play-testers, and ESECIALLY Wolf for helping me out a LOT in the fixing of glitches and skill levels. Notes : This map DOES have skill levels and I HIGHLY encourage you to use them. If it's too easy on the normal one, then try the next up! If you don't know how to play the different skill levels, then look under "Important Notes" at the end of this template. Also, when you come to the first accsec- ible vents, they are not a u-turn. There is a drop in the middle of them that is easily walked over if you aren't going slowly. You have to go down the vent to get to the rest of the level. PLEASE!!! SEND ME MAIL ABOUT THIS MAP! IF YOU LIKED IT, TELL ME WHY, IF YOU HATED IT, TELL ME WHY!!! ====================================================================== * Play Information * Episode and Level # : E1L1 Single Player : Yes (that's what it was intended for) DukeMatch 2-8 Player : Yes (not tested) Cooperative 2-8 Player : Yes (not tested) Difficulty Settings : Yes, 1-4 USE THEM! Plutonium Pak Required : No New Art : No New Music : No New Sound Effects : No New .CON Files : No Demos Replaced : None ===================================================================== * Construction * Base : New level from scratch Level Editor(s) Used : BUILD Art Editor(s) Used : None Construction Time : About a month. I stopped for a while, then went back to again. That's whay it took so long. Oh yes, if your curious, the map was officialy finished in my opinion on 2-22-98. Just in case you wanted to know how old it was. Known Bugs : Ok, Here we go: 1.) The forcefields on the windows change pall- ette after using the first teleporter, I couldn't use inv. forcefields because I was running into too many problems. 2.) The transport on the right flashes or diss- appears for a second when you walk on it, but it doesn't hurt you anyting, so don't worry about it. If anyone finds more, mail me. If anyone might me be able to fix any of the above, mail me. * Where to get this MAP file * File location : Wherever you can find it. You can get my others by mailing me and I'll send them to you. !Spoilers! : This is the Spoiler section in case you are stuck in the level. 1.) If you can't find the yellow key card, it is in the hull of the large ship outside. 2.) If you can't find the switch for the last silver door, it's at the top of the dock- ing bay by the red windows. 3.) Here is an easy way to take out the reactor without getting hurt. After you pick up the first RPG just shoot at the reactor from the way you came in. You know, after you went down the lift and down the hall and you see the reactor. Just shoot at the window. Most of the time it works, but sometimes it doesn't. ===================================================================== *Important Information* Installation : Just like any other duke user map. To use the skill levels, type this at the dos prompt: duke3d -map bspace1.map /s# # being the skill level, 1-4 Important Notes : Ooga!Booga! >:-8 This level will be fairly tough if you don't find all the secrets or don't take advantage of the fountain. Use the fountain! It really helps. ======================================================================
