A nice urban/industrial level from M.Sandt, which while having nothing new still has good solid gameplay. There's a few well thought-out puzzles and the level flows smoothly - texturing is quite nice, shading brilliant. Monster to ammo ratio is very well done, sometimes enemy placements are predictable but that just adds to the fun. Grab it now! The map!

Date started: 23rd of January 2003 Date finished/released: 21st of April 2003 (construction time was three weeks) THIS LEVEL IS NOT MADE BY OR SUPPORTED BY 3D REALMS Title : O'Boy Author : Mikko Sandt Web Page : http://www.planetduke.com/msdn/ : God of Duke sites http://www.dukeworld.com/duketournament/ : DM/SP Total Conversion http://www.dukeworld.com/mssp/ : Da MSSP Episode Misc. Author Info : I was born in 1984 and I have worked with Duke since 1997. Anyways for more info about my 'Duke past' go check my MSDN site. I'll be a high-school graduate within two months and I'll go to army next January. I'm a pro-American and anti-religion and I like to watch and think of 'Fucking Åmål' (Swedish teen film about lesbians - 'Show Me Love' in the US) all day. That's all I have been doing since March 2003. Other Levels : Mssp1-Mssp7, O'Boy, Dm1-Msdm5, Duke Tournament TC, three versions of MSSP Episode, some crappy newbie levels and then I took part in CBP1, 2 & 3 projects. I have also made a level for Unreal Tournament & Quake 3 Arena. Description : "I have been building these maps for Duke since christmas 1997 and now I'm gonna finish it. This map which you are holding right now in your hands is my last map ever for Duke Nukem 3D." - That's what I said in 2001 in MSSP7 readme. Call me a liar if you wish because that's what I am. This is a typical city level. It's as big as original Duke city levels and it has some details. I could have made it bigger & more detailed (I used about half of the available sectors) but I have better things to do. This level has no new innovations. Anyways this map has only ONE CRATE. So you can't call me a lazy person without imagination. I didn't fill every room with boxes when I couldn't find inspiration. I made something else. Shadows are realistic by the way (maybe not good looking but realistic). Build sucks because you have to do shadows by yourself. In games like Quake & Unreal the engine creates shadows - you just tell it where the light is. When you see a shadow in this level there's always a light source for it. Plot : Shoot 'em. Additional Credits To : FakirBaba for inspiraton - not just design but also for making FBSP002 which later inspired me to make a small city level, 'New York Plaza', Fucking Åmål, AMC forums, 'The Duke3D Community', Fucking Åmål, Dukeweb for elevator tutorial (which didn't work so I had to replace it with a teleport), Euronews for reporting about Iraq war while I was building, Fucking Åmål, Planetduke, Fileplanet, Kimmo Nikkanen for Finnish Build guide, 3DRealms for making a decent game called Duke3D, Chowderhead3 for throwing stupid insults and then regreting it later, Fucking Åmål, you and Fucking Åmål. "To the people I forgot, you weren't on my mind for some reason and you probably don't deserve any thanks anyway." -Eminem ====================================================================== * Play Information * Episode and Level # : User map Single Player : Yes DukeMatch 2-8 Player : No Cooperative 2-8 Player : No Difficulty Settings : No Plutonium Pak Required : Yes Extra stuff : No ===================================================================== * Construction * Base : New level from scratch Level Editor(s) Used : BUILD Art Editor(s) Used : None Construction Time : Three weeks - I didn't do anything in March Known Bugs/Problems : Some apartment doors cause flickering * Where to get this MAP file * File location : MSDN, AMC, Dukeweb - all quality sites ===================================================================== *Important Information* Installation : Unzip to your Duke Atomic directory and run it through setup.exe or type duke3d.exe -map o'boy.map (see 'dir' if 'o'boy' name isn't correct).
