An aptly named level, White Rabbit is a fun, fast-paced romp through an office, underwater wrecks and a few caves - and it somehow manages to squeeze a nuclear reactor in there too. It's a mish-mash of themes but straightforward enough, design is very nice in some areas, some of the shadowing is brilliant and adds to the atmosphere greatly. It's a great first effort, nothing to be seen of the oversizing syndrome - just a first rate play. Take a gander!

Description : "This is Really Starting to Piss Me Off"
The small space pod cut across the space lanes at
terrific speed, driling holes through anything that
stood in it's path. It's skin glowed breifly as it dove
through a nebula - The speed of its passage caused
the hydrogen around it to flare off like a glowing
wake. Inside, The single occupant sat and daydreamed
about when he would reach his destination.
Our testosterone-charged, crew-cutted hero was on his
way to some serious R&R with his babe, Lanie, when
the call came in on the sub-space comm unit. "Ahhh,
crap, what does that ass-hole want now?" he growled to
himself as he flipped the switch.
"Duke, when I heard of this I immediately thought of
you." tinnily wheedled the still pompous voice from
the space ships's speaker grill.
"Next time, just send me some friggin' flowers." said
Duke.
At least the voice tried to sound pained. "There is a
small planet just East of your present course. Two of
our best operatives reported strange life-forms under
the surface of the planet.
"That was just before they were destroyed."
Duke's hold on the control grips tightened to the
point where he was in serious danger of damaging
Government property.
"You're tellin me you want me to pass on the finest
female keister God has provided Man to go to some
jack-shit rock on the edge of the Universe to play
tag with yet more alien scum?"
After a pause that indicated that the voice was
probably really pained this time, it said, "um, yes."
"Oh, one more thing, our operatives were flying the
Top Secret X-7092 experimental starship, it mustn't
fall into the hands of the aliens."
Duke sighed - it was like a hot blast from hell.
"Well, I'll tell you what General, I'll put my
liberty on hold. And I'll tell you why. Number one
is that I don't let nobody from my planet take
shit from no aliens."
"But this is the big one General," He took time out
to light a cigar. briefly, the ships air processors
protested - until Duke's fist found the speaker grill.
Duke's voice was now a menacing growl.
"I kicked those aliens asses once before and they
didn't lay down and die.In my book that makes it
personal. Once they felt my boot on thier butt.
Now its going straight to the head!"
Duke grabbed the controls and whipped the small
craft towards the rocky world.
"My Granddaddy always said, 'Fool me once, shame on
you, fool me twice, You're dead!"
Ignoring the shrill cries of the nav computer, Duke
angled the ship to auger deep into the planet's
atmosphere. The ship's cabin grew hazy, a combination
of cigar smoke and overheated componets. The hull
shook alarmingly, but Duke's only reaction was to
swap his cigar from the right to the left side of
his mouth.
The set of his face had a meaning on hundreds of
worlds. That meaning for alien scum everywhere
could be generaly categorized as "Run!"
"Sorry Lani, but a guy has to do what a guy has
to do. And I am going to do un to those mothers like
they have never been done unto before."
"Keep the bed warm Lani, I'll be back after lunch."
As Duke dodged immolation from both re-entry heating
and the alien's planetary defence network, he
belatedly realized that this ass-kicking session
might just take all day...
Additional Credits To : I would like to thank Spirit Lodger and Robbin
Langton for showing the way and The Woman for
nagging me to not only get it done, but more
importantly, get it done right! :-)

Richards and Robbie Langton.
Special thanks (of course) to 3D Realms and the
whole Duke Nukem Team for such a kick-ass game!
Thanks to Jonof, Ken Silverman and all the port
port coders for breathing new life into Duke
after all these years.

the start positions into the first sector.

New Art : Give us a break, this is my first level!
New Music : No

=====================================================================
* Construction *
Base : New level from scratch.
Level Editor(s) Used : BUILD (sigh).
Art Editor(s) Used : No.
Construction Time : Now you are asking. I started messing around
with some of the ideas in this when the Atomic
Edition came out! Really started this about 2
years ago. Total all-in construction time is
about 24 man-days. None of this speed-mapping
shite here!
Known Bugs : Got rid of most of them. Sometimes the mini-boss
or other in-game sounds wipe out the sounds that I
have put in for Duke to say at certain times, but
such is Duke! Some doors are open when the player
reaches them, but that shouldn't kill gameplay.
Sometimes doors are open when they should be shut.
* Where to get this MAP file *
File location : Try MSDN http://www.planetduke.com/msdn/
or Duke Solo http://www.roblang.demon.co.uk/dukesolo/

*Important Information*
Installation : Drop it into your Duke directory. Launch Duke
with the command line option of:
Duke3d.exe -map whtrabit.map
I have tested this map with the latest Win32
port from www.rancidmeat.com go into the 'bin'
directory and make a shortcut to the duke3d_w32.exe
and then add the "-map whtrabit.map" (minus quotes)
after the program name in the 'target' window
under the shortcut tab in properties.
With the Jonof port, just make sure the map is
in the same directory as the port files and you
select it with the 'User Map' off the main menu.
Important Notes : This map is inspired by later shooters such as
'Half Life'. Sometimes you have a second option rather
just walking straight in and shooting.
When you first start the game, you are NOT READY to
take on the miniboss. Follow the signs. You will
meet him later!
